When we think of social justice, we turn to tikkun olam, our shared responsibility to repair the world. Every day is an opportunity to put our values into action and to vow to strive toward equity for all. Here are some ideas for all of us to become involved:
May is American Jewish Heritage Month. The Library of Congress, the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, the National Park Service, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum all join in paying tribute to the generations of Jewish Americans who helped form the fabric of American history, culture, and society. B'nai Tikvah's Social Action Committee is delighted that we will be holding our Mitzvah Day at the temple from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, June 12th. Several activities are planned but we need YOUR help! The following is a list of projects we hope to be working on:
Collecting personal care items, etc for Father Bill’s
Collecting food for the local food pantries and for Family Table;
Making blankets for the Brockton Veterans' Hospital
Collecting items for the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA in Brockton
(formerly the MSPCA in Brockton) and possibly making toys for the animals
Packaging candles for Family Table and making Shabbat Shalom cards to accompany the
candles;
Collecting eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones
Ritual would like to invite people to become a "Holy Roller". Teams of 2 (2 adults, 2 teens, or an adult and 2 children 8 or older) will roll a Torah scroll from end to end and then to a specified spot. The team will receive instructions before beginning the task.
Sisterhood is opening up this lovely afternoon party to all the women of B’nai Tikvah, including non-Sisterhood members! What a great way to socialize while enjoying a delicious luncheon (an exciting variety of salads, paninis and desserts) and beautiful music in the open air!
In the interest of all of our good health, we ask everyone to take a home Covid test before attending. We’d love to have you join us! Please RSVP to Jane Silver 617-470-6779 or emailby June 15th.

Minyan List for the Week
Congregants commemorating a yahrzeit may wish to honor that event by leading some portion of the evening’s service. It might be as small as leading a prayer or could be leading all of Mincha or Ma’ariv. If you are interested in taking this honor feel free to call Joe Doniger at 781-910-7601 or email us at MinyanRangers@bnaitikvahma.org at least two days in advance, and we’ll help make arrangements with that night’s minyan leader. Due to the pandemic, as many people are observing a virtual Shiva week, if you inform the leader, a third Mourners' Kaddish will be included as is done in a shiva house.
