ISRAEL – DETERMINATION AND HOPE
As we near the somber marker of two years since October 7, 2023, Israelis and Jews around
the world face ongoing challenges, but also opportunities. We know the difficult news. Many of
our cousins remain in captivity. Jew hatred both in the Middle East and worldwide continues to
be a scourge. And yet, even in the midst of difficulty, there is hope.
On Rosh Hashanah, we will take a few moments to rededicate ourselves to the important task of
supporting Klal Yisrael. This year, as in the past few years, we would like to highlight several key
ways you can support Israel. The information below is designed to give you an opportunity to
preview some of the outstanding organizations through which you can demonstrate your
support of Israel. Please take a few minutes to check out the links to learn more about each of
these important organizations.
Magen David Adom – Israel’s first responders for medical emergencies continues its life saving
work on behalf of both civilians and soldiers.
Hadassah Hospitals - Donations support the most advanced lifegiving and lifesaving care
provided by these well-known hospitals.
Kibbutz Nir Oz - This was one of the communities devastated by the 10/7 attack. Our sister
congregation in Jerusalem, Maayanot, also provides support for this community.
Weizmann Institute of Science – As you probably know, this leading scientific research center
sustained significant damage in a ballistic missile attack in June. Nevertheless, the cutting edge
scientific discoveries and innovations continue.
Leket – The obligation to feed the hungry does not diminish, even in times of other needs.
Leket continues its important work in bringing surplus food to those who need it.
Israel Bonds – As always, the purchase of Israel Bonds not only helps strengthen Israel, but
represents a worthy financial investment.
On Rosh Hashanah, please pledge as generously as you are able in support of one or more of
these important organizations.
We leave you with this inspiring song. Am Yisrael Chai
