Prepare yourself for the High Holidays with a combination of Jewish text study, personal reflection, and Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® explorations. This class will give you the opportunity for a deep and meaningful encounter with the habits and patterns of your life.

Our tradition encourages us to dedicate time during the month of Elul, which precedes Rosh Hashanah, to the practice of cheshbon hanefesh — literally “spiritual accounting,” to prepare us for the work of Teshuvah — repentance and return. This class will give you an opportunity to explore the habits and patterns of your life, in order to prepare you for a deep and meaningful experience of the High Holidays.

Each of the four 1.5 hour sessions will build on the ones before it, and will include:

  • An encounter with a Jewish text on Teshuvah
  • A Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® exploration, literally embodying themes from the text
  • Time for personal reflection and journaling
  • Exploration of the experience in supportive community

“The truth of our lives is the closest thing to us there is, as the Torah reminds us. It is right in front of our eyes. It is embedded in our bodies.” — Rabbi Alan Lew
