HIAS is the world's oldest refugee agency. Established in 1902 as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the organization was a continuum of earlier groups assisting Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe. Originally set up by Jews to help other Jews, today HIAS is a multi-continent organization and advocacy group helping displaced persons around the world. What work does HIAS do?
* Resettle refugees * End gender based violence * Provide legal support
* Promote Economic Inclusion * Advocate for refugee rights *Respond to emergencies
