Friday night is a time to mark the transition in our homes between the work week and sabbath rest. Our service uses song and moments of reflection to assist us in that process. Join us for candle lighting, blessing one another, kiddush, motzei and invoking an angel to bless us during the week ahead. This week Dena Kaufman will offer a teaching between the songs of Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv (the evening service).
Our Summer Friday night services are on Zoom and begin at 6:00 PM. Zoom Link Meeting Id: 978 470 037 Passcode: 183618
Shabbat Morning: Welcoming the Month of Elul
Sunday and Monday begin the month of ELUL, the month of introspection and preparation for the upcoming High Holiday season. This Shabbat, we will consider the full scope of the season, from the first days of Elul through the end of the holidays, Simchat Torah in late September. Tellingly, the four letters of the name ELUL are interpreted as standing for the biblical verse: ANI LODI ViDODI LI, I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine. We see ourselves as bound to God in a relationship of intimate love this month as we seek the security we need to expose our weaknesses and begin the process of change.
Services this Shabbat morning will be in person in the Sanctuary and on ZOOM and begin at 10:00 a.m.. Phyl Hewson will be giving over the D'var Torah this Shabbat. We will not be screen sharing so if you want to follow the service from home, please arrange with the office to borrow a prayer book and humash, purchase a set on line, or download the siddur PDFs, availabe by clicking here.

Adult Ed Course with Reb Nikki Thursday, May 8th 8:00p to 9:00p What are we talking about when we talk about "Israel"?
The name "Israel" in Jewish texts can have many meanings: the person, the nation, the land, and the modern state. In this six-session class, we will be examining different uses of the name "Israel" by looking at sources ranging from the Torah to modern thinkers. Together, we will gain deeper understanding into its meaning by looking at the connections between and teasing apart the differences among the range of meanings of the word, and be able to discern what we are talking about when we talk about Israel.
