Our Friday night service begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes around 7:00 p.m. Join us on ZOOM and log in early to say hello. Our service includes Candle lighting, blessing one another, kiddush, motzei and angel cards as we prepare to move from the work week to Shabbat as a day of rest and reflection.
Reb Josh will lead the davening tonight. This week is the first of a new month and a new year and we will honor simchas in the community at the start of services. Join us and share your upcoming special moments.
In my teaching, I will reflect on how we can nurture a feeling of awe and wonder. What is awe? Can we feel awe in the everyday? How can our shabbat service open a window on the world of wonder? Reflections by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel will be our starting point.
During the holiday season, many of us have been with other family members and friends, we continue to hold in-person services in the Sanctuary. We advise wearing a mask and making sure you are current in your booster shots. If you are feeling sick, please stay at home, we will miss you.
Shabbat Morning: Jacob Blesses his children
This shabbat Reb Josh will lead the davening. Noah Beit Aharon will read torah and Janice Halpern will read the haftorah. We read the final parashah of the book of Genesis and bless each other with “Hazak, Hazak Vinithazek,” may we move on to the book of Exodus and plan to return to the stories of Genesis next year.
In parshat Vayehi we read about the legacy Jacob leaves for his children and grandchildren. Reb Josh will reflect on the nature of these blessings and how they might guide us in thinking about our own legacies.
Davening in the sanctuary begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes around noon with kiddush luncheon. Join us for conversation, study and fellowship, or join us on-line.
