This week we return to our Sanctuary for FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE! our monthly in person kabbalat shabbat. Students in our Religious School will lead the service along with Reb Josh. Dinner follows the service (advance reservations required).
Our Friday night service begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes around 7:00 p.m. This week, with services in person in the sanctuary, Friday's service will be streamed on LiveControl and on YouTube (click the pics below to open the stream at 6pm).
Our Social Action committee has organized a special shabbat memorializing trans people who have lost their lives in hate crimes. Our speaker will be Cohen Kraus, a non-binary Jewish educator who works professionally as a Jewish equity, diversity and inclusion fellow. Members of our Social Action committee will lead parts of the service. Reb Josh will join in the davening and Reb Lisa will speak about a transgender colleague who died recently. Kiddush luncheon and conversation follow the service.
Davening in the sanctuary begins at 10:00 a.m. To accommodate our speaker, you can join us on Zoom this week (NOT on LiveControl).
SOUL STROLL Please note that Soul Stroll this week is cancelled, returning on Dec 17th.
Lunch & Learn: Inclusivity and Exclusivity
My fall lunch and learn continues this (and every) Tuesday at noon. Our first topic is to compare texts on inclusivity and exclusivity in Judaism. Following up on my sermon from Kol Nidre, we will ask how Judaism holds conflicting perspectives on central issues and how we are to navigate that complexity. Who stood at Sinai? Class will be on Zoom.
