Our Friday night service begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes around 7:00 p.m. Join us on ZOOM and log in early to say hello. Our service includes Candle lighting, blessing one another, kiddush, motzei and angel cards as we prepare to move from the work week to Shabbat as a day of rest and reflection. This week we continue the story of Jacob, our beloved ancestor who was also a notorious trickster. Reb Josh will offer a teaching on the story of Jacob and our own wrestling with ourselves. Reb Josh will lead the davening.
Last week we heard a wonderful program about the history of the Jews in India from Rahel Musleah. Today at services Viv Aarons, our only member in Australia, will be with us in person to speak about Jewish life down under. Viv is a doctor who lives and works in rural Australia.
She came to B’nai Tikvah as a participant in our Israel trip last year. Since then she has been a regular at zoom services and study (sometimes joining us in the wee hours of the morning her time).
Reb Josh will lead the davening and chant Haftorah. Noah Beit-Aharon will read torah.
Davening in the sanctuary begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes around noon with kiddush luncheon. Join us for conversation, study and fellowship, or join us on-line.
Lunch & Learn: Texts on Community Building
My Winter lunch and learn continues this (and every) Tuesday at noon. In coming months we will explore texts on the building of community. What did the early rabbis teach about creating intimate Jewish communities in which the individual is nurtured and the communal is sustained. Class will be on Zoom.
