SHABBAT MORNING: Studying Pirkei Avot
Services this shabbat morning will be live in the Sanctuary and on LiveControl and YouTube. Davening in the sanctuary begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes around noon with kiddush luncheon. Join us in person for conversation, study and fellowship, or join us on-line.
Reb Josh will be leading the davening and I will be teaching. Each week between Passover and Shavuot we read excerpts from one chapter in the only text from Rabbinic Judaism found in its entirety in our Siddur: Pirkei Avot, “Sayings of the Sages.” Avot begins with a text that serves to validate the rabbinic re-interpretation of the bible. How do we understand continuity and discontinuity in Judaism? What can we learn from Avot? Debbie Gladstone will chant the haftorah.
Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Leonard Gordon
