In affirmation of Rabbi Feld’s first year leading B’nai Tikvah, and in hope of many more to come, please join us in our Seresky sanctuary or online for a Friday Night Live service in honor of Rabbi Feld’s installation. Our Friday night service begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes around 7 p.m, with time for appetizers beforehand, and the service will be followed by a festive dinner for those who RSVP’d in advance.
SHABBAT MORNING:
Rabbi Feld’s Installation
This week, Parshat Ki Tavo (Deut. 26:1-29:8), please join us in celebrating Rabbi Feld’s first year as rabbi of B’nai Tikvah, and expressing our hopes for many more to come. We offer gratitude to Hebrew College president Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld, who will be installing her, along with Cantor Louise Treitman, who will lead the congregation in blessing her.
Our Shabbat morning service begins at 10 a.m. in our Seresky Sanctuary, and you can join us in person or on Livestream. This week, Linda Dietrich, Rabbi Leonard Gordon, Rabbi Edward Feld, and Rabbi Lisa Feld will be reading Torah, Marci Shaw will read Haftorah, and Rabbi Feld will lead services. Services will conclude around noon and will be followed by a kiddush luncheon celebrating Rabbi Feld’s installation.
Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Lisa Feld
ELUL:
A Time for Turning
Throughout the month of Elul, I will be offering short prompts for those who want to engage in journaling, meditation, or other ways of delving deep in anticipation of the High Holidays. Credit goes to my mother, Merle Feld, whose full set of prompts you can find on her website, Derekh.org/elul2024. For this week, we focus on Tikkun Olam. Some of you are just starting to experience yourselves as activists, fired up by injustice, while others have perhaps been on the ramparts all along, heartbroken now to see the efforts of decades go up in smoke before our very eyes. And then everyone in between. What we all have in common, regardless of our stage of life and activism, is a need to sometimes rest, replenish our resources. How? Where do you find your sources of strength and renewal? How do you protect yourself from burnout in a world on fire? Make a list. Add to your list. Post your list somewhere in the house where you can easily see it, every day.
Simcha Shabbat & Kiddush
We encourage you to sponsor a kiddush to mark a simcha, celebrate a birthday, anniversary, commemorate a yahrzeit, honor an individual's accomplishment, or just to enhance our Shabbat. Since not every kiddush is sponsored, we hope you will consider a contribution to the kiddush fund so we can provide a kiddush every week. All sponsors are much appreciated and will be acknowledged.
We have streamlined this process to make it easier than ever-- come see our new kiddush sponsorship page on the website!
