JBBBS Volunteer of the Year Award Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston has selected Marty Packer and three other indiviuals to receive the Chaverut Volunteer of the Year Award for exceptional service. Marty started volunteering with JBBBS in 1989 in the Children’s Program. After a few years, he then became a volunteer with Friend 2 Friend. He and his current match have been matched for over 16 years! Celebrate with Marty at The Big Brunch Sunday, November 19th, 10am, 1430 Main Street, Waltham This event is open to the public to celebrate the volunteers and their transformative matches. Let's congratulate Marty!!!

Sammy Bernstein, a founding member of Temple Beth Am, was a Marine who survived the last Japanese banzai attack on Iwo Jima. Sammy's Story tells of his surprise enlistment in the Marine Corps as a naive, young boy to his transition into a battle-ready Marine on the black sands of Iwo Jima. Sammy passed away in 2015 but his son will be with us to carry on his legacy. Join us for tea, coffee, and pastries after the film. REGISTER HERE!
