Our Friday night service begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes around 7:00 p.m. Join us on ZOOM and log in early to say hello. Our service includes Candle lighting for Shabbat, blessing one another, kiddush, motzei and angel cards as we prepare to move from the work week to Shabbat as a day of rest and reflection.
Reb Lisa will lead the davening and teaching tonight. The plagues bring up a host of questions for us, the most pressing of which is, what does it mean for God to harden Pharaoh’s heart, and does that change our understanding of Pharaoh’s guilt? We’ll look at how the ancient rabbis struggled to understand the plagues, and what this can tell us about accountability in our own time.
As we continue to hold in-person services in the Sanctuary, we advise wearing a mask and making sure you are current in your booster shots. If you are feeling sick, please stay at home, we will miss you.
Shabbat Morning: The many names of God
This shabbat Reb Lisa will lead the davening and Rabbi Gordon will offer the teaching. Debbie Gladstone and Ellie Sirk will read torah, and Howard Cooper will chant the haftorah in honor of the anniversary of his bar mitzvah.
Our Torah portion opens with the announcement that God appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with one name, but revealed a different name to Moses. Is this accurate? What does the evolution of God’s name tell us about how our ancestors understood their relationship to God and to the world around them?
Davening in the sanctuary begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes around noon with kiddush luncheon. Join us for conversation, study and fellowship, or join us on-line.
