THIS COMING SHABBAT: Sisterhood/Brotherhood Shabbat April 29, 2022
This Shabbat, April 30th, will be Sisterhood/Brotherhood Shabbat at B’nai Tikvah. Members of the Sisterhood and Brotherhood will be leading the service. The service will begin at 10:00 am. The Sisterhood and Brotherhood will also be sponsoring the pre-packaged, take-home kiddush after the service.
During the weeks connecting Passover and Shavuot, we study Pirkei Avot, “Sayings of the sages” and this Friday night we will read passages from chapter two. Writing after the Temple’s destruction in 70 c.e., Avot offers practical guidance on resilience and rebuilding.
Our service is on ZOOM and begins at 6:00 p.m. Join us for candle lighting, blessing one another, kiddush, motzei and invoking an angel to bless us during the week ahead.
Shabbat Morning: Parshat Aharei Mot—Sisterhood/Brotherhood Shabbat We welcome members of our brotherhood and sisterhood to lead our services and be our teachers this Shabbat.
As the Sanctuary is undergoing a transformation, we will continue holding our services in the Social Hall, sitting in the round. Please join us in person or through Zoom for our services this week.
A PDF of our siddur is available here so you can follow from home if you do not have a siddur. If you need a bible, please be in touch with our office or consider purchasing a copy of Siddur Lev Shalem and Humash Etz Hayyim for your home library.
In May, when I will be in Israel, Rabbinic Intern Lisa Feld will teach a four part class “Talking to God” and exploration of the meaning and practice of Jewish prayer. Details here.
