Social Action / Social Justice
Purim is a holiday of courage and inspiration, joy and possibility. Our celebration at B'nai Tikvah was all of this and more! But even in the midst of rejoicing, members of our community opened their hearts to those in need and fulfilled the special mitzvah of Matanot LaEvyonim. This mitzvah requires that as Jews, we are obligated to give tzedakah to people in need on Purim. Yad Chessed is a social services agency rooted in the Jewish values of kindness (chessed) and charity (tzedakah). It fulfills the mitzvah of Matanot LaEvyonim by helping people who struggle with financial hardship and food insecurity, while by helping them navigate a path toward financial security. Thanks to YOUR GENEROSITY we were able to collect $250 to be given to this worthwhile cause! Phyl Hewson, Chair, Social Action/ Social Justice Committee
Ramah Boston’s spring open house is coming up on March 19, from 1-3 pm. The afternoon will include fun and games, tours of the campus, an info session with Rabbi Silverman and more. This is a free event, but we appreciate RSVP’s. Please follow this link to save your spot
