Social Action/Social Justice News
Thanks to all who attended the Social Action/SIsterhood Sharsheret program on Oct 20. The speaker, Eve Kleinerman presented a powerful program. As a result of this program, the SA committee has decided to hold a "busy box drive." This will allow BT members to purchase toys for kids who have a parent who is suffering with breast or ovarian cancer. Watch for details.
The plans for Transgender Remembrarnce Day, November 19th, are moving along. We are in the process of narrowing down our guest speaker. Several BT members have volunteered to participate in the service. However, if you would like to participate , there are still parts available.
Other news: HIAS Shabbat Weekend is February 2,3, and 4th... More to follow.
AND IT'S NOT TOO EARLY TO THINK ABOUT OUR ANNUAL MITZVAH DAY, Sunday, April 30!!!! Several FUN projects have been discussed. Do YOU have a project that you like to see incorporated??????
HELP SAVE LIVES AND SUPPORT UKRAINE, by Enid Cherenson
As the continuing war in Ukraine becomes even more deadly with power and water shortages expected as winter sets in, direct contributions to the people of Ukraine can provide immediate assistance in fighting the Russian invaders.
My friend, Alex Dunai, a trained genealogist and well-known among Jewish genealogy organizations, has set up a GoFundMe page to purchase and deliver medicines, basic equipment like shovels, chain saws, clothing, and other essentials to combat areas.
In addition, Alex has been purchasing used 4x4 vehicles and car parts to send to eastern Ukraine to assist in medical evacuations. Watch these YouTube videos with Alex describing how these desperately needed vehicles are being repaired and sent out to save lives: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUXTXBIrL_M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbUfDCfU7Bs&t=58s Alex and his family could have left Ukraine at the beginning of this war. They, like many Ukrainians, have decided to stay and fight. Please help them to save lives and make a donation to: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-alex-get-suvs-for-ukraine

Minyan
Congregants commemorating a yahrzeit may wish to honor that event by leading some portion of the evening’s service. It might be as small as leading a prayer or could be leading all of Mincha or Ma’ariv. If you are interested in taking this honor feel free to call Joe Doniger at 781-910-7601 or email us at MinyanRangers@bnaitikvahma.org at least two days in advance, and we’ll help make arrangements with that night’s minyan leader. Due to the pandemic, as many people are observing a virtual Shiva week, if you inform the leader, a third Mourners' Kaddish will be included as is done in a shiva house.
