Dear B’nai Tikvah family, Your support throughout my mother’s final illness and death has meant the world to us. I don’t know how to begin to thank you for your generosity, both the sustenance in the form of a delicious shabbat meal for my family and the generosity of spirit, with so many of you participating in Zoom Shiva minyanim and sharing warm words of consolation. We are so blessed to be among you.
With warmest appreciation, Rabbi Lenny, Lori, Ronya, Mickey, Reuben and Samara
Kabbalat Shabbat
Our service is on ZOOM and begins at 6:00 p.m. Join us for candle lighting, blessing one another, kiddush, motzei and invoking an angel to bless us during the week ahead. This shabbat we announce the new month of Adar I, the month of joy leading up to Purim and then Passover (and with it springtime). Never was there a better year to have two months of Adar (I and II) to expand our sense of joyfulness. May we find many opportunities to join together to celebrate. We will be creating time at services to mark our accomplishments and anniversaries, things that have fallen by the wayside during these years of COVID. .

Parshat Mishpatim Shabbat Morning: What did we learn at Mt. Sinai
Services for this week will be on ZOOM and livestream and begin at 10:00 a.m. Because of the approaching storm we will not be meeting at the synagogue in person. Our reading from the torah this week focuses on the full range of Jewish laws, from who we can marry to how we organize our communities, from ritual regulations to basic rules of justice and equity. What is the organizing principle of these miscellaneous rulings? What is the content of the encounter with God on a mountain top? Love or law? Speech or silence? We will talk about revelation – what does Judaism say about the divine-human encounter, then and now.
