Our Friday night service begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes around 6:50 p.m. This week Reb Josh will be leading the davening, and Rabbi Gordon will teach about love in our kabbalat shabbat liturgy.
Our service is designed to create a buffer between the work week and Shabbat rest. We aim to make the atmosphere like a family shabbat table complete with Candle Lighting, Blessing one another, Kiddush, Motzei and Angel Cards. Before and after the service we take time to check in with one another and share greetings (feel free to log on early). Our service has been abridged for ZOOM but includes familiar and new melodies, readings from the margins of the siddur, and some learning. Join us on ZOOM.
As we continue to hold in-person services in the Sanctuary, we advise wearing a mask and making sure you are current in your booster shots. If you are feeling sick, please stay at home, we will miss you.
Shabbat Morning: finding God in the Megillah
The scroll of Esther, which we will read on Monday, is the only book in the bible that does not include the name of God. And yet, the Midrash teaches that Purim is the only holiday that we will continue to observe after the coming of the Messiah. What’s so important about the strange story the Megillah teaches us?
This Shabbat morning, Reb Josh will lead the davening and read from the Torah, including the special Maftir for Shabbat Zachor. Rabbi Gordon will offer the teaching, and Dena Kaufman will chant the haftarah.
Davening in the sanctuary begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes around noon with kiddush luncheon. Join us for conversation, study and fellowship, or join us on-line on Livestream and YouTube.

Lunch & Learn:
Finishing a tractate of Mishnah
Rabbi Gordon’s Winter lunch and learn continues this week on Wednesday at noon by zoom. New students are always welcome.
In preparation for Passover, the rabbi will be studying tractate Hagigah of the Mishnah, concluding that study with the service for the fast of the first born on April 5 at 8:00 a.m. Tractate Hagigah has fascinating material about censorship in teaching, the value of metaphysics in philosophy, and the most central laws of the Torah. Class will be onZOOM.
