B'nai Tikvah's in the Spotlight
JF&CS Simone Lottor Award Ann Hartstein was selected out of more than 2,000 volunteers to receive this year'sSimone Lottor Exceptional Service Award. Ann has been a regular volunteer at both the Waltham and Canton distributions for many years. She is also a member of the Center for Basic Needs Assistance and the Services for Older Adults advisory committees. "At JF&CS I have found volunteer work that is based on Jewish values, addresses serious needs of real people in my community and is filly appreciated by the organization itself," Hartstein said when accepting the award. Ann coordinates the monthly JF&CS Family Table food distribution at B'nai Tikvah. Let's congratulate Ann!!!
A Novel Book
Monday, Oct 16, 8 pm A Novel Book CLub will discuss Becoming Eve, a memoir which recounts Abby Stein's early life as a member of a Hasidic Jewish family and her realisation that she's a trans woman, and an explanation of a sheltered and separationist religious community—in her case, the Hasidic communities of Brooklyn—to secular non-members.

Canton Fall Classic Road Race
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29 This year will be the 34th Canton Fall Classic road race! Volunteering to assist at the race is a great way to get involved and meet people. We will be seeking temple volunteers to help out to make this event a success. This year’s race is on Sunday, October 29 and features 5K and 10K races beginning at 10 am, a senior walk at 9 am and a kid’s fun run at 9:45 am. More info is at www.cantonfallclassic.org. We will need help on race day as well to assist with fundraising and picking up donated merchandise before the race. Did you borrow a Mahzor? Please make sure you return the prayer book(s) back to the office to ensure that it’s checked in. Also, remember to turn in your annual high holy day appeal and your Count Me In! volunteer form at the same time.
